Wareham Fire District Water Department Awarded $116,500
*****The outcome of this grant has allowed Wareham Water to identify methods for finding and reducing our unaccounted for water (UAW). UAW is a measure of "lost water." Through this grant, Wareham Water was successful in reaching an UAW of 9.2% which is under the MassDEP standard of 10% UAW. This is the first time in about 10 years Wareham Water has reached this target. Wareham Water looks to continue reducing UAW in line with a motto "Protect and Conserve." Stay tuned as we target financial incentives for you, the homeowner, to reduce leaky water system components.

April 2016 Testing
Through an Eversource energy optimization program, A.W. Chesterton Company, Groveland, MA will be performing Pump Performance and Efficiency tests for an electric and hydraulic assessment of our (6) raw water well pumps. Testing will begin in early April and is at no cost to the District. Based on the testing results, recommendations will be made to further enhance the operating efficiencies of the system.
*****Energy savings opportunities and associated grants have been identified in our pumping systems as well as lighting systems. Wareham Water is considering which of these opportunities warrant the investment to make a more efficient system.
The New England Chapter of the American Public Works Association (NEAPWA) is excited to provide you with this Public Works Awareness video. Many people don't realize the affect public works has on their daily life. Over the past year, the NEAPWA has been working to create a video to highlight that impact and raise awareness. Using a small town football game as the backdrop, and the voice of Gil Santos (former voice of the New England Patriots), the video calls attention to the work that public works employees do every day to protect our safety and quality of life.
